Pitcher and Piano is one of a successful chain of bars designed with the young, lively imbiber in mind. A wide range of cocktails is available and a well selected choice of moderately priced wine and champagne. There is something for everyone and this includes 4 pint pitchers of draught beer and lager also at attractive prices.
The menu, which has some spectacular drink supporting food on offer, is also designed with conviviality in mind. An entire section is given over to “stacks to share” including Asian stack, wings stack, nachos stacks and The P & P stack which has an elaborate array of potato wedges, crispy battered prawns, deep fried brie, onion rings and fish goujons served with BBQ and garlic mayo dips. Sandwiches and munchies are available as are salads for the health conscious and some fulfilling main courses such as steak and chips, P & P burgers, baked chicken breast and roast cod fillet and cabbage hash. This is splendid fayre and the vegetarian is not forgotten – rejoice in the frittata (Spanish omelette plus) and Mexican bean chilli with cheese as examples.
Pitcher and Piano is arranged on two floors with the upper floor being something of a spectator gallery from which one can observe the merriment on the ground floor. Throughout there is a thoughtful mixture of sofas and comfy chairs for those who want to be secluded in a quiet corner, pine tables and chairs for larger groups and enough standing space at the bar for an initial getting together. The location is ideal as a place to meet before sampling the pleasures of Covent Garden and the West End or indeed a place to stay for the rest of the evening, being next to Charing Cross station and other means of transport when weary steps lead homeward.
