As the name suggests this restaurant is famous for fresh fish served in generous quantities and prepared in an imaginative manner.
Starters comprise smoked haddock, olive & sweet peppers £5.25, chilli & lime glazed Scottish king scallops, Thai stir fry £9.50 and grilled crotin, walnut & celery salad £6.50 followed by serious main courses such as seared tuna "Nicoise" £15.50, pan fried sea bass filet £16.95, Nova Scotia lobster £29.75.
Under the catch of the day selection are such items such as whole sea bass £15.25,lemon sole £15.75 and swordfish £13.25. Livebait is well known for its oysters costing £1.25-£2.25 each, other crustacean such as Dorset crabs £8.95, and for the traditionalists bowls of cockles, winkles and whelks £3.95 each.
This is a pleasant, well appointed restaurant and essential viewing for fish eaters. The high quality is carried over into a fine selection of wines (average £16.00/bottle) and champagne. A children's menu is available on request.
