This outstanding bar brasserie enjoys a fine corner location on the Covent Garden Piazza. The most important thing to mention as the weather starts to heat up is the much-coveted seated area on the piazza. Known to the staff affectionately as the “Terrace” this area can hold 52 diners and is the ultimate place to grab a bite to eat while enjoying the sunshine and watching the world go by.
Main courses, costing around £13 on average, include something for everyone, be their preference vegetarian, fish or meat. The choice includes pumpkin and sage risotto cakes served with baby spinach and caramelised red onion; chargrilled lamb steak with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and a firm favourite, warm goats cheese salad served with bruschetta and apple chutney.
Starters are almost a meal in themselves with grilled tiger prawns with saffron rice and lemon dressing catching the eye along with French onion soup served with gruyere croutons. Starters cost a little over £5 and desserts a little under. The latter set out unashamedly to destroy the girlish figure using an array of irresistible delights such as sticky toffee pudding with crème fraîche and hot caramel or the newly introduced summer fruit terrine, the perfect end to a meal at Tuttons. Tuttons is a happy place and thoughts of restraint should be left outside. This leads to the wine list which compliments the menu well and offers a sound choice with emphasis on New World wines. House wines are £13.90 per bottle and many wines are available by the carafe which measures one third of a bottle. Again the specials are ever changing and carefully chosen. A children's’ menu is available on request and for those diners in a hurry to catch an evening show there is the pre theatre express service. Tuttons also has it’s own separate in house bar offering a variety of drinks and lighter bites. Whether you stop by for a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening, the bar is always lively and the staff are a pleasure to chat with. Tuttons is an ideal place to meet friends and business associates. It is close to all the pleasures of Covent Garden and the West End and is an ideal port of call to rest from over-vigorous sightseeing or shopping. Finally, if you want to ask up to fifty friends out for a party you can hire the twin vaults, beautifully decorated and very intimate under the main restaurant and have a wonderful time. There is no venue hire and the set menus feature some of the highlights from the a la carte menu of the Brasserie. Just one more thing, all diners at Tuttons get free and priority entry to retoxbar, a fabulous cocktail bar located next to the restaurant so you can extend your evening into the small hours in style.
